Stromberg Carlson entered the Radio-Phonograph combination market in June 1927 with their model 744. The ad in Radio Retailing stated deliveries starting Sept 1.
This is my Stromberg carlson 744 which came into my posession in Spring 2022
The power supply is amazing! It weighs in at 130 pounds! (60kg)
I mounted it onto an engine stand to work on it. Here it is with the two Tungar rectifiers installed.
Here is another showing all tubes installed. Two 81 rectifiers for B+ and two half amp Tungars for the filaments
In spite of the HUGE cabinet, the 744 does not have a built-in speaker.
It requires an external stand alone speaker such as the No. 10 magnetic cone speaker or, perhaps an electrodynamic speaker such as the No. 18
It could also have any speaker attached as long as it can handle the output of a UX-210 output tube.
